In Awe of Christ’s Presence

Lesson Text: Matthew 14:22-36

Thought to Remember: Take a risk of faith like Peter

Lessons learned:

In examining the concepts of faith and risk, we can look at the story of Peter, who ventured outside his comfort zone and took a bold risk, ultimately failing. In contrast, others chose to remain within the safety of their familiar environment, reflecting a reluctance to step beyond their established boundaries. This raises an important question: do you approach your faith like Peter, embracing risks, or do you prefer the safety of the familiar, much like the other disciples who remained in the boat?

Throughout biblical history, many patriarchs exemplified the importance of taking risks in their faith journeys. For instance, Abraham acted on faith when he left his family and embarked on a journey to an unknown destination. Similarly, David demonstrated courage and faith as he approached Goliath, armed only with a sling and stones. Importantly, even in moments of defeat, Peter recognized and responded to the voice that called him forward. These examples underscore the value of stepping out in faith, even amidst uncertainty.

My Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for providing for us and protecting us. You are truly a living and forgiving Savior. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
