Obituary for Rose Nelson

This God - His Way is perfect; the promise of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. For who is God except the Lord? And who is a rock besides our God? the God who girded me with strength, and made my way safe.

Reflections of Life

Rose Ethern Nelson the third of four children was born on August 30, 1945, to the late Theo and Veola Dennis Nelson, in Abbeville, Alabama. She resided in Abbeville, Alabama, for 76 years until the Lord called her home on Sunday morning, October 17, 2021.

She lived her entire life in the Abbeville area. After many years working at West Point Pepperell, Inc., she pursued another skill as a nursing assistant in the Home Health Care field and at the Henry County Hospital in her earlier years. She was a caregiver at heart who worked in various capacities providing care to the young and old. She traveled existentially and assisted those in need of care. Her work ethic was acknowledged with integrity, being dependable, loving, and caring while working many years in the workforce. She enjoyed cooking, baking cakes, traveling, and working in her yard, which gave her much joy while planting and beautifying her yard with all kinds of flowers.

Concerning her spiritual life, she rooted faith in Jesus as Savior. She was a member at Abbeville Memorial Church in Abbeville, AL. She faithfully enjoyed worshipping and serving the Lord. Her favorite Sunday service was Sunday School. In Sunday School, she enjoyed listening, asking questions, and engaging with others about the lesson. When she became physically unable to attend, she remained faithful by engaging with technology. She listened to Pastor Vincent Brown's morning messages via Facebook. In the evening, she joined See You n Sunday School by Minister Mickey Baker using Zoom. She anxiously waited and actively participated in these group discussions on the Sunday School lesson.

Her parents preceded her in death, and her brothers and sisters - Juanita Nelson and Jimmy Nelson, a niece-Johnnie Ruth Beck, and her brother-in-law, Monroe Hogan.

Left to cherish the precious memories she leaves behind the following: her sister Alice Hogan, her nephew Cornelius Nelson; great-nephews and nieces – Joshua Carlton Beck (Christina Skipper), Roosevelt Beck III, Zavion Cornelius Nelson, Zyeria Nelson, Jayden Nelson, and Natasha Nelson; great-great-nieces and nephews – Paiton Beck and Jayceon Beck; Her cousin, Antonio "Rabbit" Dennis; dear friend – Ms. Pat; and a faithful, caring, and loving friend – Ms. Ruth; and her God sent angel and caregiver – Ms. Debra Baker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

My Prayer for the family of Candice Nelson

Revelation 3:8

"I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied My name.

Dearest Heavenly Father, your name is excellent and greatly praised, from everlasting to everlasting. We exalt you above all else today, and we thank you for being the God of all flesh who knows everything about us, yet you love us the same.

Today my Lord, we give you thanks for opening doors that lead to all the best and most precious gifts that we need and that we may ask for. Such doors that no one can shut. We thank you for constantly watching over us and our families, for protecting us and our families, and for making ways when there seems no way for us to proceed.

Now dear Lord, lead us with the Holy Spirit. Strengthen us by your power, and fill our hearts and lives with more of You and less of us. Open our ears to hear and our eyes to see so we may see and hear You as You lead us in the way of victory, by your vision toward godliness, as we exercise faithfulness in obedience to your commands. Please allow the Nelson’s family to envision your purpose and your plan. Allow them to see your glory in despite of the loss of their family matriarch. Therefore, we glorify in your strength, my Lord, and my Creator, as we honor You and give You thanks. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
