My Tribute to Sarah Hardamon
We often have a matriarch who serves as the anchor of our families, and Sarah Hardamon was that matriarch for the Hardamons. Ms. Sarah (as called by many in the community) was the bedrock of their family, providing stability and guidance to all. She was a source of strength for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
When I learned about Ms. Sarah's transition, I felt compelled to reach out to her niece. Curious about their relationship, I asked her, “What stands out as the most memorable moment you shared with Ms. Sarah?” I was eager to hear a story that captured the essence of their bond. Her niece told the story of bringing an African friend to Abbeville for a visit from Dallas, Texas. Sarah made such an impression by opening her doors and making her feel at home that her African friends sent Sarah a gift each time her niece returned to Abbeville. From such an experience, I can easily say that Sarah's hospitality transcended cultural boundaries. Ms. Sarah created a sense of belonging and warmth that resonated deeply with everyone she encountered. Her ability to welcome and embrace different individuals fostered strong bonds and enriched those around her, including her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sarah Hardamon made a global social impact unbeknownst to many Abbeville residents. For that, she leaves a legacy of kindness for our Abbeville community.
I will remember Ms. Sarah Hardamon as a guiding light, illuminating the path for others to follow. In other words, Ms. Sarah created a ripple effect of kindness and understanding for the next generation. I say such because when you drop a rock in the pond, it makes a ripple effect. Ms. Sarah's transition sparked a remarkable ripple effect, resonating deeply with countless individuals and transcending cultural boundaries. Its impact has been felt far and wide, touching lives in unexpected and profound ways. Thank you, Ms. Sarah, for turning Abbeville into a vibrant global community! Your warm hospitality and openness to welcoming others into your home truly make a difference.
