Why Seek the Living Among the Dead

When Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary, and others emerged from the empty tomb, the angel asked this pertinent question: Why seek the living among the dead? Each time we enter a worship service today, we must ask ourselves this same question. Why? Many individuals tend to give more importance to natural occurrences and neglect their spiritual well-being. Spirituality is essential to life because it clarifies natural occurrences. By understanding the true meaning of the Resurrection of Jesus, we can connect our spiritual sense to reflect on Hosea's prophecy: He will come to us as the rain, the latter and former rain. Hosea's prophecy symbolizes rejuvenation from connecting with our spiritual senses to the Resurrection of Jesus. Our spirituality will aid us to find meaning, purpose, and fulfillment, as rain nourishes the earth to bring new life.

Therefore, why we seek the living among the dead reminds us that seeking the living Jesus is the same as becoming more spiritual, enabling us to better understand ourselves and the world around us. For instance, by seeking Jesus, we can better understand why certain things happen the way they do or why certain situations arise. By remembering Jesus' suffering, we can renew our physical strength to endure situations that life brings. Remember Hosea's prophecy:  Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. (Hosea 6:1-3 KJV) Without a doubt, Jesus' suffering paves the way for healing among His followers after we clearly understand His Resurrection. Therefore, the Resurrection serves as a powerful force that binds and revives while empowering us to do the work of the Kingdom with confidence and purpose.

So, I repeat the angel’s question when the women visited Jesus's empty tomb: Are you still seeking the living among the dead? Have you elevated yourself like Mary Magdalene, who left the tomb to share the good news of her risen Savior? Think of such as you enjoy this Easter weekend.
